Peanut Oil Is Versatile
So Commonly Used For
Healthy Snacks

Peanut oil is used extensively in the manufacture of healthy snacks and deep fried foods. It is made from peanuts and has a very high burn rate, which means that it must get to extremely high temperatures before the oil will scorch. This makes it one of the most popular oils of choice to be used in most restaurants and fast food places. It is used often to make french fries, fried chicken or breaded meats and vegetables. Or another treat rapidly gaining in popularity across the country is deep-fried turkey.

Refined, Extruded, Expelled or Cold-Pressed Peanut Oil

Most of the oils, including peanut, that are sold in this country are refined. This is a process which filters out all of the peanut proteins while at the same time it mellows out the flavor of the oil. Do not confuse refined oil though with cold-pressed, extruded or expelled oils. This is an entirely different procedure and the proteins are not filtered out on any of these last three.

Many individuals which only show mild to moderate reactions to peanuts can therefore tolerate foods prepared with refined peanut oil. People with severe reactions though should not experiment with these products until after you speak with your doctor. It is possible for the severe allergic to have a reaction by just the smell, the touch or just ingesting a small microscopic piece of a single peanut.

Some Other Not-So-Conventional Uses

Also known as goober peas, earthnuts and goobers, peanuts and their oils have some other non-traditional uses in addition to frying and eating. Once it was used as a fuel source for diesel engines. It has also been mixed with lemon juice and used to help get rid of acne and blackheads.

It is vitally important for you to be aware of the contents of any product that may contain peanuts. Also, any product which is processed on a peanut line, all product(s) which share the same packaging line, any items stored or transported in the same vicinity, these items do have the capability of leading to the death of any person that is highly allergic.

Important Lifeline For Your Possession

To help alleviate some of the stress and anxiety with this allergen, please get in the habit of having a copy of the chef's card in your possession at all times. Use it freely, every time you go anywhere that food is being served. By letting everyone around you know the severity of your condition, you may end up saving your own life.
