Meatball Appetizers:
Great Party Food

Meatball appetizers is a popular choice whether it is for an informal family get-together, a backyard picnic or just for the family's dinner any night of the week. This is easy to serve on a buffet table in a stone crock or right out of the slow cooker.

Recipe Book

(dairy, dye, egg, gluten, peanut, tree nut free)

Meatballs

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup gluten free(gf) cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 T. ketchup
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme leaves
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder

Sauce

  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 T. sweet pickle relish
  • 2 T. finely chopped onion
  • 2 T. Light brown sugar or maple sugar
  • 1 T. vinegar
  • 1 T. Lea and Perrins(GF) Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/4 cup water

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly oil a baking sheet with olive oil.In a large bowl combine beef, cracker crumbs, onion, ketchup, thyme, salt, pepper and chili powder until well mixed. Shape into 36 meatballs.Place on prepared baking sheet. Bake 15-20 minutes until lightly browned.Meanwhile, in medium saucepan combine tomato sauce, ketchup,pickle relish,tomato sauce, onion, sugar vinegar, worchestershire sauce, salt, pepper, allspice, and water. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer 15 minutes. Add meatballs and simmer another 15 minutes.
