BBQ Beef With Macaroni: A Children's Favorite
BBQ beef with macaroni was always available for a quick and easy childhood favorite. All you ever had to do was put macaroni, sauce and hamburger on the table to get every child's attention at dinnertime. Here is a simple version with just a slight flavorful twist.
(corn-check labels, dairy-dairy free cheese, egg, gluten, peanut, soy and tree nut-check sauce label carefully)
- 1 Lb. ground beef
- 1 green pepper, seeded and sliced thinly
- 1 medium onion, skinned and sliced thinly
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup gluten free bar-b-que sauce
- 2 cups gluten free macaroni
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, optional
- olive oil for frying
Place a small amount of oil in the skillet and warm for one minute. Add the beef and cook only until brown. Add onions and green pepper and continue cooking until vegetables are crisp tender and the ground beef is cooked through.
Add the water, BBQ sauce and macaroni. Cover the skillet, reduce heat and let the liquid slowly simmer. Cook for approximately 10 minutes. Check occasionally to be sure all of the liquid does not evaporate. Add more as needed.
Cook till the macaroni is tender. Serve. Top with parmesan cheese if desired.
